Navicular drift
There are two ways on how to measure the foot. One is Navicular drift is a measurement that is often not used in assessing foot function and the other is Navicular drop which is used much more often. Navicular drop is a measurement of how much the navicular bone moves up and down between the foot being in a relaxed position compared to the foots neutral position. In contrast the navicular drift measurement is a measurement of how much the navicular bone drifts from side to side. Both measurements measure something different in foot function and both probably should be done as part of a comprehensive assessment. An arch that collapses is just as bad as an arch that moves from side to side.
