Variations in Fish Tanks
Fish tanks vary in shapes and sizes. There are very small bowls that can hold just one to two tiny fish to show tanks that can fill up a whole wall in the room. For beginners who wish to maintain seriously an aquarium, it is best to start with a tank that can hold around 55 gallons. Starting with small or desktop fish tanks will limit choices of fish population and the aesthetic elements one may want to add in the tank. Aside from that, some fish species need a lot of water to swim in, while some may outgrow a small fish tank once they reach their adult size. Thus, it is better to start with a medium-sized to large-sized instead of buying a small one and being forced to buy a larger one later on when the fish grows too big. It is also advisable to get a wide tank as they provide a wider surface area of exposed water, which translates to better gas exchange.
