Turtles are a fun and generally quite easy pet to keep in the house as long as the owners properly care and manage the animal. By delegating the tasks that come with pet maintenance, everyone in the residence learns responsibility, how to care for a living being and even become very educated in the turtles themselves. Learning how to take care of a turtle as a domesticated pet instills confidence, responsibility and maturity in children — especially if the task in turtle maintenance is just theirs and the pet’s health relies on it being completed. Teach children how to properly feed the animals and clean their cages and tanks. Children can also be taught the kind of medicine the turtle may need to take and how to properly administer it.
