British Library To Make Kindle Titles Available Free

The British Library has announced that it will make 65,000 19th century out of copyright books available to amazon kindle users for free. The books should be available sometime this spring. They will include illustrations and use a typeface which gives the e-book the look of the original publications. Books from authors such as Charles Dickens, Jane Austen and Thomas Hardy will be available - as will a collection of so called “Penny Dreadfuls” - which include the likes of Black Bess. Users who prefer a more traditional experience will also be able to buy conventional paper reproductions on the Amazon website.
